Kitchen Countertops in Las Vegas: Complete 2026 Buyer's Guide (with Real Pricing)

Definitive luxury Las Vegas kitchen with Calacatta quartzite waterfall island, granite perimeter counters, gold pendant lights, and mountain views at golden hour

Kitchen countertops in Las Vegas cost between $40 and $150 per square foot installed, depending on the material you choose. For an average 35-square-foot Las Vegas kitchen, that puts your total countertop investment between $1,400 and $5,250 before extras. The best material for most Las Vegas kitchens is Quartzite or Granite — both handle our 278 PPM hard water and 110-degree summers without the maintenance headaches that come with Marble.

This is the comprehensive 2026 guide to kitchen countertops in Las Vegas. We are Night & Day Stone, a family-owned fabrication shop on Lamont Street with over 20 years of stone experience in this valley. This guide is the conversation we have at our slab yard with every customer, written down: real pricing, honest material recommendations, and the Las Vegas-specific factors that change the right answer here vs. the rest of the country.

Key Takeaways

  • Cost range: $40-$150 per square foot installed for kitchen countertops in Las Vegas
  • Best value: Granite at $40-$100/sqft handles desert heat, hard water (with sealing), and decades of family use
  • Lowest maintenance: Engineered Quartz ($50-$120/sqft) — non-porous, never needs sealing
  • Marble look without the worry: Quartzite ($60-$150/sqft) — hardness of granite, beauty of marble
  • Avoid for Las Vegas kitchens: Marble in heavy-use family kitchens (sealing every 6-12 months in our hard water), engineered Quartz for outdoor extensions (resin yellows in 18-24 months)
  • Timeline: Most projects take 5-10 business days from template to install

The 6 Materials We Recommend for Las Vegas Kitchens

Most material guides online are written for Atlanta or Boston. Las Vegas is a different environment. Our 278 PPM hard water (per the Las Vegas Valley Water District) is more than 10 times harder than soft-water cities. Our July average high is 105°F (per the National Weather Service Las Vegas office) with 280+ days of direct sun per year. These factors change the right answer.

Here is how the major materials actually perform in Las Vegas kitchens.

Granite — Best Overall Value

Luxury Las Vegas kitchen with brown granite countertops, white shaker cabinets, stainless appliances, and mountain views

Granite countertops in a Las Vegas kitchen. Image is illustrative.

Cost: $40-$100/sqft installed

Granite is the most under-appreciated kitchen material in our market. It is harder than Quartz, handles direct heat from pots and pans (you can set a 450°F pan on it without damage), and tolerates hard water with proper sealing. Las Vegas-friendly Granite colors include Uba Tuba (deep dark green-black), Santa Cecilia (warm beige), Black Galaxy (black with gold flecks), and dozens more.

The honest knock against Granite is that natural color variation means every slab is different. We solve this by inviting every customer to our slab yard at 2951 N Lamont St — you hand-pick the exact slab that becomes your countertops.

Sealing schedule in Las Vegas: every 18-24 months. See our Granite countertops page for slab options.

Quartz — Lowest Maintenance

Modern minimalist Las Vegas kitchen with crisp white Caesarstone quartz countertop island, white cabinets, gold pendants

Engineered Quartz delivers consistent color and zero-maintenance performance. Image is illustrative.

Cost: $50-$120/sqft installed

Engineered Quartz from brands like Caesarstone, Silestone, and Cambria is the most popular material right now for one reason: it never needs sealing. It is non-porous, so hard water cannot stain it. It comes in consistent colors (no slab-to-slab variation), making it the default choice for homeowners who want a uniform white or grey kitchen.

Two cautions specifically for Las Vegas:

  1. Heat sensitivity: Quartz is rated to about 300°F before the resin discolors. Always use trivets.
  2. Outdoor use: Never install Quartz outside in Las Vegas. The resin yellows visibly within 18-24 months under our UV. For outdoor kitchens, see our outdoor kitchen materials guide.

See our Quartz countertops page for color options.

Quartzite — Best of Both Worlds

Stunning Las Vegas kitchen with Taj Mahal quartzite countertop island featuring beige and golden veining, white oak cabinets, mountain view

Taj Mahal Quartzite — Marble look with Granite hardness. Image is illustrative.

Cost: $60-$150/sqft installed

If granite hardness and marble beauty had a child, it would be Quartzite. This natural stone is one of the hardest on earth (Mohs 7), does not etch from acidic foods, tolerates hard water, and shrugs off heat. Popular colors include Taj Mahal (beige with golden veining), Super White (cool white with grey veining), Calacatta Quartzite (white with dark veining), and Fantasy Brown (warm brown with cream veining).

For homeowners who want a Marble-look kitchen without the maintenance reality of actual Marble, Quartzite is the answer. Sealing schedule in Las Vegas: every 12-18 months.

See our Quartzite countertops page for slab options.

Marble — Beautiful but Demanding

Elegant Las Vegas kitchen with Calacatta marble countertop and waterfall island featuring dramatic grey veining, brass faucets, white cabinets

Calacatta Marble waterfall island. Beautiful but requires Las Vegas-specific maintenance. Image is illustrative.

Cost: $50-$150/sqft installed

We sell Marble. We will also tell you the truth first: Las Vegas is one of the harder environments in the country for Marble. Our hard water deposits build mineral residue on Marble faster than nearly anywhere else. Acidic foods (lemon, tomato, vinegar) etch the surface. The recommended sealing schedule in Las Vegas is every 6-12 months, not the once-every-1-to-2-years you read about online.

Where Marble works in a Las Vegas kitchen:

  • Decorative bar tops in formal entertaining areas
  • Island tops that get less daily use than perimeter counters
  • Bathroom vanities (low water exposure compared to kitchens)
  • Kitchens where the homeowner has accepted the maintenance reality

Where Marble does not work:

  • Busy family kitchens with kids who help cook
  • Kitchens where vinegar, lemon, or tomato sauce gets used daily
  • Anywhere the homeowner expects "set it and forget it"

For more on Marble specifically, see our Marble countertops page and the Marble cost guide.

Soapstone — Distinctive Character

Traditional farmhouse Las Vegas kitchen with rich dark grey soapstone countertops, white shaker cabinets, brass fixtures, exposed wood beams

Soapstone develops a rich patina over time. Image is illustrative.

Cost: $70-$130/sqft installed

Soapstone is a niche choice that delivers a moody traditional look that no other material achieves. It is naturally non-porous (perfect for our hard water), handles direct heat exceptionally well, and does not etch from acidic foods. The trade-offs are softness (it scratches easily) and a darkening patina that develops permanently over time.

Soapstone is right for a Las Vegas kitchen if you appreciate stone that ages with character and you want a kitchen that looks distinctly different from neighbors. For full pros and cons, see our soapstone guide.

Porcelain Slab — Ultra-Modern Performance

Porcelain slab — engineered for outdoor use, modern minimalist looks indoors. Image is illustrative.

Cost: $60-$130/sqft installed

Porcelain slab from brands like Dekton, Neolith, and Lapitec is the modern minimalist choice. Non-porous, never needs sealing, available in solid colors or convincing marble-look patterns, and engineered for the harshest environments. Most Las Vegas homeowners who choose Porcelain are doing modern minimalist designs or want a single material that works indoor AND outdoor (see our outdoor kitchen guide).

What Is the Best Value Kitchen Countertop in Las Vegas?

If "best value" means the most performance per dollar over a 10-year ownership window, the answer is Granite. Specifically, Level 2 Granite at $55-$75 per square foot installed.

Why Granite Level 2 is the best value:

  • Performance: equal to or better than every other material on heat resistance, hardness, and longevity
  • Hard water: handles our 278 PPM water with annual sealing
  • Beauty: dramatic enough patterns to look distinctive (Steel Grey, White Ice, Colonial Gold)
  • Resale value: universally recognized in the housing market — buyers know Granite is real natural stone
  • Maintenance: 30 minutes of resealing every 18-24 months is the entire annual care cost

If "best value" means the lowest possible installed price, the answer is Granite Level 1 at $40-$55 per square foot. Colors like Uba Tuba and Santa Cecilia are real natural stone with full durability — they just have more common patterns.

If "best value" means lowest lifetime maintenance cost, the answer is Engineered Quartz at $50-$120 per square foot. Quartz never needs sealing, ever. The slightly higher upfront price is offset by zero ongoing maintenance.

How Las Vegas Climate Affects Your Kitchen Countertops

Three local factors change material selection in our market:

1. Hard water at 278 PPM

Las Vegas tap water is more than 10 times harder than soft-water cities like Seattle. The dissolved calcium and magnesium leave residue every time water sits on a porous surface. Over 18 months, untreated Marble develops cloudy white patches near sinks. Travertine and Limestone are even more vulnerable.

Best for hard water: Quartz (non-porous), Porcelain slab (non-porous), Quartzite (extremely dense, sealed).

Worst for hard water: Marble (porous), Travertine (very porous), Limestone (very porous).

2. 110°F summer days

Surface temperatures on dark stone in direct kitchen window sun can exceed 130°F in July. Engineered Quartz is rated to about 300°F before the resin discolors — meaning even a moderately hot pan can cause damage. Natural stone is safer for serious cooks who frequently move pans straight from the burner to the counter.

Best for heat: Granite, Quartzite, Soapstone, Porcelain (all rated 500°F+).

Worst for heat: Engineered Quartz (300°F max).

3. UV exposure

If your kitchen has west-facing windows, the countertops near them get hit with intense afternoon UV. This is not an issue for any natural stone or Porcelain slab. Engineered Quartz can yellow over 5-10 years if directly exposed to consistent sun, especially lighter colors. For typical indoor kitchens, this is not a major factor.

What to Expect: From Slab Selection to Installation

Our slab yard at 2951 N Lamont St — every customer hand-picks the exact stone that becomes their countertops. Image is illustrative.

Most kitchen countertop projects take 5 to 10 business days from start to finish. Here is the process:

Day 1: Slab Selection

Visit our slab yard at 2951 N Lamont St. You walk through full-size slabs and pick the exact piece of stone that becomes your countertops. We tag the slab with your name. No samples, no catalog photos, no surprises.

Day 2-3: Digital Templating

After your old countertops are removed and any cabinet or sink work is complete, we template your kitchen with Flexijet laser-guided digital templating. Every angle, curve, and dimension gets captured to within a millimeter. This usually takes 1-2 hours on-site.

Day 4-7: CNC Fabrication

Your tagged slab moves to our fab shop. Our CNC machines cut to the exact digital template — sink cutouts, edge profiles, seam joints, all programmed in. This takes 3-5 business days depending on edge complexity.

Day 8-10: Installation

Our installers deliver and install. Most kitchens take a full day for installation: leveling, seaming, adhering, sealing (for Granite, Marble, Quartzite). You get clean, working countertops by end of day.

For more on the fabrication process, see our fabrication process article.

Edge Profiles, Cutouts, and Customization

Five different stone countertop edge profile samples lined up showing eased, beveled, bullnose, ogee, and mitered edges

The standard eased edge is included; upgraded profiles like ogee and mitered run $10-$30 per linear foot. Image is illustrative.

Standard pricing includes an eased or beveled edge — the simple, clean profile that works with every kitchen style. Upgrades cost extra:

Edge profiles (priced per linear foot of edge):

  • Eased / Beveled — Included
  • Bullnose / Half Bullnose — $10/lf
  • Ogee / Dupont / French — $15-$20/lf
  • Mitered or Waterfall — $25-$30/lf
  • Custom hand-shaped — $30+/lf

Cutouts:

  • Undermount sink — $150-$300
  • Cooktop / range — $150-$300
  • Faucet hole drilling (3 holes for widespread) — $30-$60
  • Soap dispenser hole — $30
  • Air switch / disposal switch — $30

Add-ons:

  • Backsplash, 4-inch standard — $20-$45/lf
  • Full backsplash (to upper cabinets) — $40-$120/sqft
  • Removal of old countertop — $200-$500
  • Plumbing disconnect / reconnect — $150-$300

When the Hernandez family in Centennial Hills came to us last summer, they had a 50-square-foot kitchen with one undermount sink, one cooktop, four faucet holes, a 4-inch backsplash on three sides (12 linear feet), and removal of their existing laminate. They chose Level 2 Granite at $65/sqft. The breakdown: $3,250 Granite, $250 sink cutout, $250 cooktop cutout, $40 faucet drilling, $300 backsplash (12 lf at $25), $400 removal. Total: $4,490 — itemized at template, identical at install.

Common Las Vegas Kitchen Countertop Mistakes

Side by side comparison of dark brown granite slab with gold flecks and white Calacatta marble slab with grey veining displayed in a slab yard

Granite vs Marble — choosing the right material for the right room is the #1 decision Las Vegas homeowners get wrong. Image is illustrative.

After 20+ years of fabricating and installing in this valley, here are the mistakes we see homeowners make:

1. Choosing dark stone for west-facing kitchens

Dark Granite or Soapstone in a kitchen with afternoon sun gets hot. Lighter colors stay 30-50°F cooler in the same conditions. If your prep zone gets direct afternoon sun, lean lighter.

2. Marble in a busy family kitchen

We mentioned this above but it bears repeating. Marble in a kitchen where two parents and three kids cook every day will not stay beautiful with the typical maintenance schedule. If you love the Marble look, choose Quartzite instead.

3. Engineered Quartz on an outdoor kitchen extension

Brands explicitly exclude outdoor use from their warranties because the resin yellows under UV. We have replaced multiple yellowed outdoor Quartz islands installed by other fabricators.

4. Sealing on the wrong schedule

The "5-year" Granite sealer most fabricators apply gives you 18-24 months of full protection in Las Vegas, not 5 years. Reseal more often than the label suggests.

5. Buying based on a 4-inch sample chip

Granite, Quartzite, and Marble vary slab to slab. Always pick your specific slab in person at the yard. We have customers come to our shop weekly because their previous fabricator picked a slab from a sample, and the actual slab looks completely different from what they expected.

6. Skipping the templating step

Some fabricators measure with tape and offer to skip templating to save time. The result is usually visible gaps or mismatched seams. Always insist on digital templating (Flexijet or equivalent).

7. Hiring the cheapest quote

The cheapest fabricator in Las Vegas is usually cheap because they skip steps — outdated sealers, inexperienced installers, low-grade adhesives that fail in heat. The middle of the price range delivers materially better results for a few hundred dollars more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do countertops cost for an average kitchen in Las Vegas?

The average Las Vegas kitchen has approximately 35 square feet of countertop space. At mid-range Granite Level 2 pricing ($55-$75/sqft), most homeowners invest $1,925 to $2,625 for the countertops themselves. Add a sink cutout ($150-$300), cooktop cutout ($150-$300), and old countertop removal ($200-$500), and the typical total project runs $2,425 to $3,725. For Quartz, add about $300-$1,000. For Quartzite, add $500-$1,500.

Is Dawn dish soap safe to use on Granite countertops?

Yes. Mild dish soap (including Dawn) and water is safe for Granite. It is the cleaner we recommend for daily wipedowns. Avoid acidic cleaners (vinegar, lemon-based products, citrus solvents) and abrasive scouring pads — these can damage the sealer and over time the stone surface itself. For a deeper clean, use a pH-neutral stone cleaner.

What are the best value-for-money kitchen countertops in Las Vegas?

Level 2 Granite at $55-$75 per square foot installed is the best value. It delivers the same performance as more expensive materials (heat resistance, hardness, hard water tolerance with sealing) with broadly recognized resale value. Engineered Quartz at $50-$80 per square foot is the best value for homeowners who want zero maintenance. Level 1 Granite at $40-$55 per square foot is the cheapest real natural stone option.

Can I use Clorox wipes on my Quartz countertop?

No. Bleach-based cleaners (including Clorox wipes) and abrasive cleaners can damage the polymer resin in engineered Quartz over time. Use mild dish soap and water, or a stone-safe cleaner specifically labeled for engineered Quartz. The same rule applies to all natural stone surfaces — never use bleach on Granite, Marble, or Quartzite.

Which kitchen countertop is best for hard water?

Quartz, Porcelain slab, and Quartzite are most resistant to Las Vegas hard water deposits because they are non-porous or extremely dense. Granite is also good with proper sealing. Marble, Travertine, and Limestone are most vulnerable to mineral staining in our 278 PPM water.

How long do kitchen countertops take to install in Las Vegas?

Most residential kitchen countertop projects take 5 to 10 business days from templating to installation. Day 1: slab selection. Day 2-3: templating. Day 4-7: fabrication. Day 8-10: install. Rush orders are sometimes possible at additional cost.

Do I need to remove my old countertops before you template?

Yes, your old countertops need to be off before we template. We can include removal in our quote ($200-$500 typical) or your contractor can handle it. The space needs to be clean, the cabinets need to be level, and any sink or cooktop work should be complete before templating.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We provide free in-home consultations for all kitchen countertop projects. We measure the space, discuss material options, and provide a detailed itemized quote with no obligation. Call (702) 809-8436 to schedule.
